January flew by faster than any of of us could have expected. Much of our time was consumed with preparation or the ILE presentations that culminated a semester's worth of research and hard work into a tangible product and resulting presentation. Please see my entry atop the ILE page for my reflection on my previous project(s).
Now it's February!!!! Mr. Tobin and I decided to do things a bit old school second semester to see how things play out. We created the "Whiteboard of Tasks" - a comprehensive guide detailing what each person needs to accomplish (some activities have specific deadlines, while others are more relaxed). See the picture below! It will be interesting to see where the semester takes us - I feel that we could go in many directions. Some exciting news in no particular order:
-I applied for a Yahoo Education Foundation Grant and we received $1000. That money is going to put into supplies such as tools and other various items that we really need to be more productive.
-We have around five episodes to Tech Talks Live scheduled and hope to add more people to the list!
-We plan to be visiting Google in April as well as travel to the Computer Museum to learn more about the technology that has revolutionized the world.
In other news, the second semester will continue to have monthly app reviews! Right now I am using Google Keep to try and keep track of everything that I want to remember on a daily basis. Stay tuned for more updates.
As part of the Senior Project required for all Seniors: I will produce a resource website containing high quality screencasts and downloadable resources for use by students, faculty and administrators at Northgate and for the greater community.
Closing Notes:
It is with great sadness I must announce that I have put to rest the creation of the English Department Website. After months of waiting for information that never arrived, myself and others working on the project decided it was not worth our time. We have no plans to reestablish this project.
On a lighter note, Michael Mandich and I recently participated in a Google Hangout on Air with the CEO of Global Risk Advisors, Kevin Chalker. You can check out the video here! We had a lot of fun discussing cybersecurity and the future of privacy in the digital age.
Finally, I built a website for Mrs. Honey that will be used for WASC Accreditation. More on this in the next update!
