The last two weeks have been a whirlwind in HelpDesk. I am working on many different projects including the NHS website (my ILE), a group challenge with Henry that requires us both to utilize Google Forms and the script editor within to craft a form capable of replacing the antiquated paper referral system that Northgate High School. What makes the new form unique is that it not only sends a copy to the administration, but also to the issuer. After a resolution to the situation, the administration can click a button and the issuer of the referral will be notified once the situation is rectified (and what the outcome was).
I have also continued my work on Moxtra (see GIF below) with the goal of eventually implementing it in an English classroom. The goal with Moxtra is to improve collaboration and problem-solving outside of the classroom because even with 50 minute periods, there still is not enough time for lengthy discussions – it is imperative to continue learning outside of the classroom.
Speaking of learning outside of the classroom, I introduced another resource into the HelpDesk classroom this past week – Paperrater.com. Not only is this free version of the famed Turnitin.com helping us to check our work for plagiarism and grammar/spelling, but it can now be used as a tool by all students to help maintain academic honesty.
Besides all of the aforementioned activities, I also conducted another teacher profile interview and am currently writing the final post. I am excited to bring the teacher profile series to the main NHS website in the near future!
